DAB+

dabplussmallDAB+ uses AAC rather than MP2 to bring you digital radio which will in theory get rid of the wobbly sounds.

This means that there should be more room for stations on DAB resulting in more stations for us to listen to.

DAB+ sets have already begun rolling out in Italy, China, Switzerland, Australia, Germany, Czech Republic and Malta already has 19 stations on DAB+ including the UK’s XFM and BBC World Service.

If you’ve recently bought a DAB radio it may have a sticker saying ‘DAB+ Compatible’ on the back but not all DAB radios will work with DAB+.

Despite the UK being one of the initial places of the original DAB, we aren’t hearing about this first and Ofcom are keeping quiet about it. It should be all go by 2010.
